It would be downright impossible to talk about legendary anime shows without mentioning the masterpiece that is Dragon Ball Z. Most people outside of Japan hadn't even seen the prequel to this show, but that didn't matter — it was clear that Toriyama wanted to go in a completely different direction with Dragon Ball Z, and that was more than enough to make this series feel fresh enough that the prequel didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Dragon Ball Z is full to the brim with everything one might expect from an action-packed shonen series — heart-pounding action, endearing characters, and amazing transformations that helped characters achieve new heights of power that were seldom seen before in the series up to that point. All of these facets were carried over to the show's sequel, Dragon Ball Super, which upped the ante in pretty much every single department. It only goes without saying that people would want to know which characters are the strongest of the lot in Dragon Ball Super — a query that will be resolved right now.

10

Toppo

This Universe was the only one that stayed in for the long haul along with Universe 7 in the Tournament of Power.

One of the fighters of Universe 11, Top, was easily one of the strongest fighters in the tournament. The fact that he could access the power of a destroyer made him even more fearsome, and it took everything Vegeta had to finally best this fighter once and for all.

9

Jiren

But of course, it would be impossible to talk about the fighters of Universe 11 without mentioning the character that is easily the most fearsome foe Goku had ever faced in the history of the Dragon Ball series.

If Goku hadn't mastered his Ultra Instinct during this fight, then his loss was pretty much the only outcome in a one-on-one battle.

8

Beerus

The God of Destruction of Universe 7 is one of the most powerful characters in the entire show, and the entire reason as to why Dragon Ball Super even exists.

It was through Beerus that the Saiyans even found out about Super Saiyan God — a transformation that opened the floodgates to a whole new level of power that could be attained by this race in Dragon Ball Super.

7

Champa

Dragon Ball Super introduced the concept of multiple Universes. In fact, certain Universes were also linked to each other, leading to these worlds being twins of each other.

So, it was only a given that Universe 7 would be no exception to this golden rule. Its twin Universe is Universe 6, with Champa — Beerus' twin brother — serving as the God of Destruction in this realm. Both these Gods don't exactly see eye-to-eye, leading to some truly entertaining back-and-forth exchanges indeed.

6

Whis

Every God of Destruction is accompanied by an Angel, whose purpose is to guide and train these Destroyer Gods and simultaneously keeping their tendencies in check, lest they decide to wipe out an entire Universe at the drop of a hat.

Whis is the Angel of the Universe 7, sharing a close bond with Beerus as they roam the starts to seek out good food and destroy useless planets.

5

Vados

As is the case with Champa and Beerus, Whis also has a sister... albeit an elder one who trained him and — obviously enough — is stronger than him.

Just like Whis, Vados is the Angel of Universe 6 who keeps Champa in check and makes sure he doesn't go rusty as well, with her training being one of the few things that can help this Destroyer God remain as powerful as one can get.

4

Vegeta

Vegeta's pride has remained constant throughout the series, being one of the biggest driving factors for him to attain new heights of power — something that he's managed to achieve in spectacular fashion.

From unlocking a new form of Super Saiyan Blue to the Energy Fission technique he's learned in the manga — it seems that there's no stopping Vegeta from attaining the power required to best his rival.

3

Goku

The protagonist of the Dragon Ball series has remained at the center of most conflicts ranging across the series, with his power levels soaring through the roof in each and every encounter where he's faced seemingly insurmountable odds.

From his group effort against Fused Zamasu to a one-on-one showdown for the ages against Jiren — there's no stopping Goku from breaking his own limits in order to protect the people he loves and attaining an absolute victory.

2

Grand Minister

The Grand Minister is the strongest Angel ever created and, by extension, is the second-strongest fighter in the entire Universe. Even though fans haven't really seen much when it comes to this character's power, the brief moments when he's made his superiority quite palpable is proof enough of just how ridiculously strong he really is.

In fact, the only person in the entire Universe who's stronger than the Grand Minister is the person he advises and guides.

1

Zeno

While there are technically two Zenos in the world of Dragon Ball Super, both these beings will be condensed into one entry for the sake of convenience. The Omni-King who rules over all the Universes might not look like much, but a single misstep in his presence can prove to be a fatal mistake for anyone who is unaware of Zeno's fickle mood.

His power to remove entire Universes from existence without even breaking a sweat is proof enough of the fact that the Omni-King is the strongest being in the entire Dragon Ball series.
